green day is an american punk rock band formed in 1987. in 1994, their major-label debut dookie, released through reprise records,
became a breakout success and eventually shipped over 20 million copies in the u.s. the band consists of:

- billie joe armstrong (lead vocals & guitar)
- mike dirnt (bass)
- tre cool (drums)
- jason white (touring guitarist since 1999)

past members:
- raj punjabi (drums, 1987-1987)
- sean hughes (bass, 1987-1988)
- john kiffmeyer aka al sobrante (drums, 1988-1990)
